Testimonial from A. Kashem
"The Days have been spent well with the Cordiality of All."
I dont know how beneficial the arrival of the specialist physicians of Bangkok Pattaya Hospital to Bangladesh is to others but I must acknowledge, for me its highly beneficial. As a government official, I have moved about different countries and have got the opportunity to visit different hospitals as well. A few years back, I had to go to a hospital at London and the Bamrungrad Hospital at Bangkok. Due to some physical troubles, I had to visit a number of hospitals at home and abroad. Since the day has not yet come for making any comparative study between the hospitals of our country and the ones abroad, I wont proceed that way. Few days back, because I had gone through serious pain in my chest, I had an urge to have a medical checkup again. I had been introduced to Md. Zahangir Alam, official of the Bangladesh office at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital through my friend Mr. Khwaja Ahmedur Rahman. After a series of conversation, I had been convinced to do my necessary checkups in Pattaya Hospital. Though I had some hesitation regarding the standard of the hospital, I started for Pattaya Hospital by BG 084 relying on Mr. Zahangir Alam since I was aware of the rights of patients in Thailand. Landing on the Bangkok Airport, having all the formalities done, I got assured and proud to see a girl, whose name was Reina Rances standing with a placard containing my name in it. She was from the Philippines. She received us with a smile and took us to the hospital by an air-conditioned car. As the car was running at 120km/hour through the highway, I was enjoying the pleasant scenes outside and also the conversation with Reina. On the way, she was talking to someone over the mobile phone. Suddenly, she said, Mr. Kashem, a phone call for you. I got surprised. Who could it be? When I received the call, I realized that it was Mr. Zahangir Alam who called me from Dhaka. Later on, I came to know that he investigates everyday the well and woe of the patients coming from Bangladesh. However, we reached at the hospital after an hour and a quarter. I was about two hours late to reach the hospital due to the delayed arrival of Bangladesh Biman. I thought I would not be able to meet the doctor that day. But arriving at the hospital, I knew that heart specialist Dr. Manun was waiting only for me even after his duty being over. He was already informed about my flight delay. I got pleased with the behavior of Dr. Manun and on the next day, I was advised for a number of normal tests. The hospital car took us to the Diana Garden Resort, the hotel booked for us. Since I was registered in the hospital, I got a discount and had the opportunity to stay in such a pleasant and tidy hotel for one third of the cost. The next day, I came to the hospital at 8 a.m. by the hospital car. After having a number of tests, it was made clear that I should go through an angeogram. When it was done, the sky broke down on my head. They found that I had got two major blocks in my heart and must wear stents on them for survival. It is worth mentioning that, since most of the patients are from Europe and America, all the equipments including stents used here are in keeping with the standard of the western world.

I became a bit bewildered thinking about the expenses of the treatment, as I had no prior preparation. My friend Khwaja assured me that in this hospital, I need not make any payment before my treatment is over. My treatment started on that very day with the assurance that the payment will be made after my returning to Dhaka. It took me only two days to get well and to leave the hospital. My friend Khwaza having his checkup done moved about the whole hospital. We enjoyed the Merry Christmas on December 25 in the hospital; posed with Santa Claus there. The days were really very pleasant in the hospital.

We spent the days well enough with the cordiality of all. Afterwards, I got released from the hospital with the prescriptions and medicines. Next day, the hospital car took us again to the Bangkok Airport. Coming back to Dhaka, I met Mr. Zahangir after two or three days. I thanked him. As a patient of high blood pressure and high chlorestoral level, I have to take some medicines life long. I requested Mr. Zahangir Alam to manage some medicine for me from the hospital. He accepted my request and did it accordingly. From the hospital, I was advised to go for a follow up checkup after three months. I am pleased to know that Dr. Piyapan and Dr. Somchai are coming to Bangladesh to participate in the health camp of Lions. From the local office, I have been informed that I can visit Dr. Piyapan here. I thank Dr. Piyapan for his kindheartedness. More importantly, I thank Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for everything.
